Where does your produce come from?
We source as much food as possible from small, local family farms near
Toronto. We've spent years (ever since 2007) developing our
relationships with our many farmers and artisans and believe strongly
in the power of personal relationships with those behind our food. We
do reach a little further away, especially over the winter months, to
also offer a great variety including items we can't grow here (like
bananas). It also helps us to better support our local farm partners
in local season through fair payment and farm loan programs. If local
only is what you're after, we label everything with its country of
origin, and also offer a Local Only box, that features produce from
Ontario (and sometimes Quebec) all year round!
Do I have to get a delivery every week?
Definitely not. Most of our members choose to have a basket on their
Subscription that comes weekly or bi-weekly automatically. But you can
also skip orders (up to 12 weeks ahead) or place orders on an as
needed basis. And don't forget you can also cancel your deliveries at
any time.
Is your packaging reusable or recyclable?
We are planet first in everything we do and believe in continually innovating our own
reusable packaging to support a smaller footprint and a bigger impact. We pick up your
empty bins with each delivery and sanitize and reuse everything from the blue
rubbermaid bins to the thermal bags for your fridge and frozen goodies, and even the
glass jars from your salads, juices, yogurt and more! Just leave it all out in your empty
bin and we’ll take care of the rest. Everything else is recyclable.
Do you have more than just produce items?
Produce is just the tip of the iceberg lettuce. As a member, you'll get access to the best of Ontario with crazy fresh produce from 52 local farms (including items you've never seen before!), artisan-crafted goods from 196 local makers (hello fresh-baked bread and fair trade coffee), to tons of seasonally inspired soups, salads, mains and more, not to mention the sustainably and locally sourced meat and seafood items! You can choose whether you subscribe to your favourites each week or change it up as much as you like. It's your basket and we want you to enjoy making it yours. Thanks so much for supporting local!
