Reducing Our Footprint

At Mama Earth, we are constantly working on ways to reduce our footprint. Below are some of the growing list of initiatives.

Ways We Reduce

Reusable Blue Bins

Reusable Blue Bins

Our blue bins are returned by our members, washed and reused as many times as possible. After final use, they are able to be melted down and repurposed.

Reduce KMs Driven

Reduce KMs Driven

We optimize routes to reduce KM's driven, which means customers don't always have options for their delivery day but we believe it's the right thing to do.

Packaging

Packaging

All of our kitchen containers are made from recycled plastic and all glass jars can be returned for us to wash and re-use. Plus all of our cardboard delivery boxes are made from 100% recycled material.

Composting

Composting

All of our organic compost goes to Hop Compost which uses patented technology to transform food scraps into Canada's most nutrient-rich compost.

Carbon Offsetting

Carbon Offsetting

We're contributing to Carbon Offset initiatives throughout the year including 5¢ per kitchen plastic container and 50¢ for every cardboard delivery box.

Unused Goods

Unused Goods

Our employees can take home extra produce to minimize waste (talk about hand inspection - we only give the best quality to our customers). Plus our Chef's Pick soup is created daily from not totally perfect produce.
