Located in “the bog” bordering Port Colborne and Wainfleet, NorCliff Farms Inc. was established in 1973 by company president Nick Secord. What started out as a small enterprise has grown into a corporation with international distribution - with about 450 pickers from just south of The Ottawa Valley all the way to the Gaspe Coast in Quebec. NorCliff Farms Inc. is the largest producer and packer of fiddleheads in North America! Wild Harvesting is the name of the game at NorCliff. One of Nick’s favourite sayings is “NorCliff Fiddleheads have no ‘cides.’ ” No herbicides, fungicides or pesticides are used at anytime. In the early spring the team forages the forests and riverbeds for wild fiddleheads, which and are handpicked, one by one - taking only 2-3 fronds off each plant (they usually have 7), to insure the perennial will grow back next year.
