At Pfenning’s Organic Vegetable Farm, respect and care is at the heart of everything they do. Respect for the environment that sustains us, for each other, and for generations that will follow.
Pfenning's has been proudly growing organic vegetables in New Hamburg since 1981. They are best known for their delicious carrots, but they grow over 40 other crops too! Leafy greens, brassicas, squash, and root veggies grow best in the area.
For a vast community of local, organic growers, they also serve as a production and distribution hub. Pfenning's buys in bulk, packs & distributes – this way, even more good food makes it to your plates!
Although the focus is local first, Pfenning's also runs an import program. This program fills in the gaps for items that are out of season or do not grow here at all. It is a way for eaters to support this Ontario farm business year-round, and for their farm to manage the costs of growing in Ontario. Importing also means they can provide more stable employment opportunities. Everything that they carry is certified organic and is traceable back to the field it came from.
A lot of care goes into the work Pfenning's does. It starts with nurturing the soil and plants. From there veggies are carefully harvested, packed and stored. Pfenning's is happy to provide us with the tastiest, safest, and most nutritious food they can!
